[Ipsec-tools-devel] Racoon connecting to VPN with No Compression

Hi all.

I am trying to connect to a Netscreen VPN, I think I was able to get the
first phase going but the second one was a problem. The connection
parameters I was provided indicate that there is not compression. The defaut
racoon config file has the line "compression_algorithm deflate" - when I
change that to "compression_algorithm none" - racoon fails to parse the file
when I start it up.

Is it possible to use racoon without compression? If so, what is the correct
wording I should use in the config file? I tried Googling high & low. I'm on
Ubuntu (2.6.24-19 kernel). I hope someone will be able to help

You should keep the "compression_algorithm deflate". It is actually used
only if the kernel security policy tells to use it.

This is actually asked several times. I found it confusing too. Maybe
we should add "none" as keyword for compression_algorithm? Manu? Vanhu?
